Ok, all done with the admin.  Got our numbers, couldn’t leave  bikes at the start.  Official race bag is so big I may rethink my packing strategy to include a dwarf and a 32inch TV.

Getting powdered food, gels and pills ready for the JoBerg2C.  Everything squeezed into zip baggies. The nutrition pack for each day weights just of 1kg.  The packing exercise resembled a Johannesburg CAT factory.

Tonight was not about the bike.  It was more about who carries what … who carries the spare tire tubes, bombs, brake pads, de-railer, medical kit, multi-tool, space blanket and moisturizer.  Where should we sleep on the night before… Heidelberg or home?  What …

Tic toc. 3 more sleeps.  It is a crazy mental week.  Not riding much so huge reserves of energy building up … I am actually missing my bike and can’t wait for a long ride. …

After a couple of 300km plus weeks, it has felt quite strange to ride so little.  Two days off since Sunday and only 30km’s per day for the rest.  Can’t believe how much extra time …
